Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has requested technical assistance from the United States to modernise Bangladesh's agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors, boost production and ensure food safety.
Bangladesh has formally requested technical assistance from the United States to modernise its agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors. Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid made the request on 11 August during a meeting with an executive delegation of the US-Bangladesh Business Council at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock conference room in Dhaka.
The minister emphasised the government's plans to boost agricultural production and ensure food safety through American technical expertise and investment cooperation. The discussions focused on opportunities for technology transfer, investment partnerships, and collaboration across the agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors.
Minister Amin also revealed that the government plans to establish certified organic farms and work towards exporting USDA-certified organic food products in the future. This initiative aims to open new markets for Bangladeshi agricultural products and improve the livelihoods of farmers across the country, including those in northern districts like Naogaon.
The meeting comes at a time when Bangladesh is seeking to modernise its agricultural practices and increase productivity to meet growing food demand. Enhanced cooperation with the United States could bring advanced farming techniques, improved seed varieties, and modern equipment to benefit farmers throughout the country.
