A sudden storm struck the Padma River near Rajshahi on September 16 night, generating 10-foot waves that sank 20 boats and damaged the city's protective embankment.

A sudden and powerful storm struck the Padma River in Rajshahi on the night of September 16, causing significant damage to boats and infrastructure. Local boatmen reported that at least 20 boats sank as waves reached heights of up to 10 feet.

The storm hit the river near the T-Bandh area at approximately 9pm, with strong winds coming from the western direction. According to local residents, the resulting waves damaged around 50 boats that were moored along the riverbank at the time of the incident.

The powerful waves also caused damage to the city's protection embankment, with blocks at several points reportedly sinking into the water. This infrastructure damage raises concerns about the city's flood defenses during the ongoing monsoon season.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of river communities to sudden weather events. Boatmen and residents along the Padma River are being advised to remain vigilant as weather conditions in the region remain unpredictable during this time of year.
