India's cricket team begins their six-match tour of Bangladesh today with the first ODI, marking the first bilateral T20I series between the nations on Bangladeshi soil.

The India cricket team begins their highly anticipated tour of Bangladesh today with the first One Day International match, scheduled for September 1, 2026. The tour consists of three ODI matches followed by three Twenty20 International matches, running through September 13.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed earlier this year that the three ODIs will be played on September 1, 3, and 6, while the T20I matches are scheduled for September 9, 12, and 13. This marks a historic occasion as it will be the first-ever bilateral T20I series between India and Bangladesh held on Bangladeshi soil.

The series was originally scheduled for August 2025 but was postponed to September 2026 following discussions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), taking into account international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams.

Cricket fans across Bangladesh, including in Atrai Upazila and Naogaon District, are expected to follow the matches closely. The series is part of Bangladesh's packed 2026 home international season, which includes tours from multiple nations in all three formats of the game.
