Seven Bangladeshi workers from Atrai who died in a sofa factory fire in Riyadh were buried Friday after janaza prayers attended by thousands.

Seven Bangladeshi workers from Atrai Upazila who died in a fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, were laid to rest on Friday following janaza prayers attended by thousands of mourners. The bodies arrived at Atrai Upazila in refrigerated ambulances at around 1:30am Friday, after reaching Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight Thursday afternoon.

The janaza was held at 10:15am Friday at the Molla Azad Memorial College field in Atrai. Member of Parliament Sheikh Mohammad Rezaul Islam Rezu, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, police officials, upazila administration representatives, and local residents attended the prayers to pay their final respects.

The seven victims from Naogaon were among 16 Bangladeshi workers killed in the factory fire earlier this month. The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh confirmed the identities of the victims following fingerprint tests conducted by Saudi authorities. The tragedy has deeply affected the Atrai community, where many families depend on remittances from workers abroad.

Local officials expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of government support during this difficult time. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about workplace safety for Bangladeshi migrant workers in the Gulf region.
