Bangladesh produced 40.6 million tonnes of rice in 2025, with Rajshahi Division contributing 17% of the national total, making it the second-largest rice-producing region.
Bangladesh's total rice production reached 40.6 million tonnes in 2025, a slight decrease of 0.17% from the previous year's 40.7 million tonnes, according to new data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics released on August 24.
Rajshahi Division emerged as the second-largest rice-producing region in the country, accounting for 17% of national production. Rangpur Division led the country with a 19% share, while Barishal Division had the smallest share at 7%.
The statistics are significant for farmers in Naogaon district and other areas of Rajshahi Division, highlighting the region's crucial role in national food security. Rice remains Bangladesh's most important crop, with over 11 million hectares dedicated to cultivation nationwide.
Despite the marginal decline in overall production, Bangladesh maintains its position as the world's third-largest rice producer. The data comes as farmers across the region prepare for the upcoming Aman season harvest.
